Hair protection: a major challenge in summer

Sea water, chlorine and UV sun radiation damage the hair...Our laboratory has developed a new protocol to evaluate the efficacy of protective haircare products

It is difficult to evaluate in a randomized manner the protective efficacy of products against UV radiations...Therefore we validated a new protocol which allows the exposure of hair tresses to UV radiations. The environment simulating chamber reproduces in a standard way the required climatic conditions and to calibrate a level of exposure to UV.  

Two different analyzes of cuticle alteration are possible:

• dosage of proteins
• dosage of lipids

With this method we can prove the efficacy of protective haircare products and associate it with the measurement of other parameters such as shine, softness, color retention etc...
